The most common mix-up at the counter is atta channi versus atta chakki jali. They look like mesh from a distance. They are made differently, and they are ordered differently.
Side by side
| Woven fine mesh | Hopper mesh | |
|---|---|---|
| How it is made | Woven wire cloth | Punched sheet |
| How you name it | Mesh × SWG, such as 40×36 | Hole number, such as 3 No. or 7½ No. |
| Metals | SS 304, brass, copper, GI, MS | SS 304, brass, copper |
| Typical job | Channi, maida, spice sifter, filter cloth | Rice mill, chakki chamber, dal and spice mill screen |
How a plant uses both
The sifter on top of the line wears a woven cloth. The chamber and the hopper wear a punched sheet. Replacing one with the other blinds the machine or lets the grain through. Send the worn piece, or say which machine it came out of.
Where both are cut
Garg Industrial Mesh at G-25, G Block, Sector 9, Noida cuts the cloth and the punched sheet. Naming the machine keeps the two orders apart. Call or WhatsApp 9910238277.
