Most "welded jali" enquiries want one of five openings. Naming the opening and the wire saves a second phone call.
The five
| Opening | Wire | Where it usually goes |
|---|---|---|
| 1″ × 1″ | 12 g (2.5 mm) | Lighter cages and guards |
| 1″ × 1″ | 10 g (3 mm) | The same square, heavier wire |
| 2″ × 2″ | 10 g (3 mm) | General panels and fencing |
| 1″ × 3″ | 8 g (4 mm) | The rectangular opening |
| 4″ × 4″ | 10 g (3 mm) | The widest square on the list |
A cage that must hold a small animal wants the 1 inch square. A fence that only has to mark a yard can take 2 inch or 4 inch. The 1×3 is the one to name when the drawing shows a rectangle, not a square.
Metal and roll
MS for an indoor or painted job. GI outdoors. SS 304 when the mesh stays in the wet or has to last. SS 201 when the order says economy stainless. Usual rolls are 3, 4 and 5 ft. A width outside those three is a special.
Powder-coated mesh uses these same openings on mild steel, in a colour. Concrete-slab mesh is specified by the engineer and is not automatically one of these five. Sector 9, Noida. 9910238277.
