How Mills Order a Micro Hole Sheet

A micro hole order is the hole number, the metal, the thickness and the plate size. The old sheet is the pattern.

Key takeaways
  • Pull the worn sheet from that machine only.
  • Name the hole number, or send the sheet so the number can be matched.
  • Add metal, thickness and cut size.
  • Garg cuts SS 304, brass and copper at Sector 9. Call 9910238277.

Mills do not redesign the hole when a screen wears out. They copy the sheet that came out of the machine. This is how that order is placed at Garg Industrial Mesh.

The steps

  • Take the sheet off the hopper, chamber or cleaner it belongs to. Do not mix sheets from two stages.
  • Read the number if it is marked: 3 No., 4 No., 5 No., 5½, 6, 6½, or a coarser number further up the chart.
  • If the mark is gone, send the sheet. The hole is matched to the chart: 3 No. is 0.60 mm, 4 No. is 0.80 mm, 5 No. is 1 mm, up to 6½ No. at 1.5 mm.
  • Name the metal: SS 304, brass or copper.
  • Give thickness and the length and width of the plate. Those are confirmed on the quote. They are not guessed from the hole number.

What the shop cuts

A round-hole sheet to that number. It is not woven cloth, and it is not an architectural perforated pattern. There is no 7, 8 or 9 No. If someone asks for 7 No., the chart jumps from 6½ No. to 7½ No.
