3 No. is the smallest hole Garg punches on the mill chart: 0.60 mm. Buyers call it micro hole hopper mesh, fine hole jali and, on a rice or spice line, a fine screen.
Where 3 No. is used
It goes into a hopper or a chamber that must hold a very fine fraction: fine rice screen, fine spice screen, and any hopper whose old sheet is already 3 No. It is not a guess for every rice mill. Coarser stages in the same plant use 5½ No., 7½ No., 11 No. and larger. Match the worn sheet.
How the fitter does it
The worn sheet comes off the hopper. The hole is checked against the chart, or the number is taken from the last order. The new piece is cut to that plate size, in the same metal, at 0.60 mm. Thickness is whatever that hopper was built with, confirmed on the RFQ. Sending the old sheet is more reliable than naming “the finest one”.
Metal
SS 304 for wet food screens. Brass if the hopper already runs brass. Copper if the drawing says copper.
